Stomp Arena

         Stomp Arena is a multiplayer side-scroller platformer with retro pixel art-style graphics. It is based on and similar to platformer games of the late 1980s and early 1990s, such as Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, but also features elements from modern games such as Call of Duty and Fortnite. The game is currently in alpha; however, it is already very stable and has a rich set of features that can rival games that have finished production. Some of the features of the game include:

• Fully functional client/server multiplayer support with advanced features like client prediction and server reconciliation.
• 2 playable characters with more planned soon.
• 20+ unique power-ups and weapons
• Various environmental elements, such as climbable ladders, moving platforms, and lava pits that damage players.
• 9 different game modes with more planned in the future. Examples include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, and Racing game modes.
• Support for both Keyboard and Mouse and Gamepad Controllers.
• A level editor that allows players to make custom maps for the game. (This will be released in the next couple of days.)
• And much, much more!

The game has been in active development for over three years, but this is only the beginning of my grand vision for the game. I hope to find a publisher or launch a crowdfunding campaign because I need help to finish the game. The game is now close to 100k lines of code and is becoming too much work for me to do by myself. Getting Started Instructions

        To learn how to play the game, click on Play Tutorial button on the main menu. After a brief duration, the tutorial level will open. To host a game, click the Host Multiplayer Game button on the main menu. In the screen that pops up, choose the settings for your server and click the Start The Game button at the bottom to start the server. If you want other players to be able to join your server, you will need to give them your server's IP address and port number, and you will also need to forward the port on your router. To join another player's server, on the main menu, click on the Join Multiplayer Game button. On the next page, click on the Enter Server Manually button, enter the server's IP address and port number in the appropriate fields, and click on the Join Server button to join the server. Connecting to a server can take up to a minute, so be patient!

       Note: The main server list is not working, so you must enter the server IP and port information. I am working on a fix for this, and it will hopefully be working again in a few days. Sorry for the inconvenience!

       Windows Users: You may need to run the game as an administrator, and if Windows Defender warns you that the application is from an unknown developer, you will need to override the warning to open the application by clicking the Run Anyways button on the pop-up. You may also need to create a rule in Windows Defender Firewall to allow the application to access the internet. Lastly, you might have to disable or add an exception with your AV if the game gets flagged as a false positive.

       Mac Users: To run the game, you must type chmod -R 777 "appname" in the console to allow your computer to run an app from an unknown developer.

      Linux Users: To run the game, ensure the application has read, write, and execute permissions set to true.

       If you run into an issue and need further assistance, please reach out on Discord, and I will do everything I can to assist you. This game will be easier to get up and running in the future, but I'm a bit stretched for time.
